BIO

B. New Jersey 2000

Deziree Jordyn, interdisciplinary conceptual artist, showcases her brilliance through captivating works in collage, drawings, paintings, experimental video, and installation. Her work serves as a profound reminder of art's ability to transcend personal exploration and community advancement; through intuitive processes and mindful observations. Delving into themes of collective memory, narrative, identity, interpersonal relationships, and wellness.

Deziree's profound understanding of creativity’s role in emotional intelligence deeply resonates, eliciting powerful emotional responses from her audience. Through immersive installations, she transforms spaces into “timeline intermissions”. Inviting viewers to pause, reflect and engage in personal introspection alongside shared vulnerability. The film-phot-sized drawings she refers to as "memories"; highlighting films' role in collective history and connections. The mixed media paintings/collages she refers to as "portals". Aiming to create other "time parallel third spaces" that evoke a sense of safety to explore hard emotions and topics. Ingeniously incorporating found film photos and objects into multi-media artworks.

Deziree sparks discussions about the impact of personal histories and interpersonal connections on our perspectives and actions; subconsciously and non. Reclaiming introspection as a tool for collective betterment. Her artwork not only challenges our psyche and morals but also explores the therapeutic power of play and mindful practices; directly influenced by her coping and making sense of her personal life and ancestry.

Beyond her artistic prowess, Deziree is an impassioned educator advocating art as a potent tool for meditation and personal growth, especially for children. With a BFA from Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University, and a Child Development Cert, she dedicates herself to nurturing young minds and those alike. Her formal roles at the Harlem Children's Zone, JCC-Metrowest and private mentoring/teaching showcase her commitment to inspire the next generation of creative thinkers.

She founded Dezire Higher Art & Wellness Education to empower children and adults to use art as a mindful tool for self-expression, emotional growth, and personal transformation, making creativity a daily practice for wellbeing.

Based in New Jersey, Deziree Jordyn's artistic journey is a testament to her dedication to push boundaries and enrich lives through art, intrinsically intertwined with emotional intelligence.
